ZCWD, CITY GOVERNMENT STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION FOR SUSTAINABLE WATER SOLUTIONS

The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) welcomed City Mayor Capt. Khymer Adan T. Olaso, M.M., to the ZCWD Main Office on Thursday, October 9, for a meeting with the ZCWD Top Management Team led by OIC-General Manager Atty. Mark Allen M. Paredes. Joining him were Assistant General Manager for Administration Louella A. Aguilera, Assistant General Manager for Operations Group Michael Angelo M. Carbon, and Assistant General Manager for Technical Services Group Engr. Marli P. Acosta-De Fiesta.

The meeting served as a venue for the ZCWD Management to brief the Mayor on the current operational status of the city’s water supply system, including ongoing initiatives and challenges faced by the District. Discussions focused on sustainable solutions and collaborative strategies to improve service delivery and ensure a stable water supply for Zamboanga City.

Following the meeting, Mayor Olaso, together with the ZCWD Top Management, conducted an on-site inspection of the District’s key water facilities, beginning with the Intake Facility located inside the Pasonanca Natural Park. The facility, which had recently experienced high inflow due to continuous rainfall, remains a vital component of the city’s water system. The team then proceeded to the Old Reservoir and the Pasonanca Water Treatment Plant — major installations that supply water to the East Coast and portions of the Central Area.

To sustain the momentum of the discussions, Mayor Olaso later convened a coordination meeting at the City Hall Conference Room with the ZCWD Top Management and key officials from the City Government, including City Engineer Christopher Navarro, City Budget Officer Geraldine Dela Paz, City Planning and Development Coordinator Ma. Luz Agbayani, City Legal Officer Atty. Evangelina Doctolero, and Assistant City Accountant Atty. Anson Maarim. The meeting focused on aligning technical, legal, and financial interventions to address the city’s water supply challenges.

Mayor Olaso underscored the importance of close collaboration between the ZCWD and the City Government, emphasizing that ensuring a sustainable and efficient water supply system is a shared responsibility. He expressed his full support for strengthening partnerships and initiatives that aim to deliver quality water services to the people of Zamboanga City.
