ZCWD Recognized for Commitment to Water Quality and Environmental Protection
The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) was recently honored for its active role as a member of the Water Quality Management Area (WQMA) Governing Board for both the Tumaga and Ayala Rivers. Assistant General Manager for Technical Services Group, Engr. Marli P. Acosta-De Fiesta, represented the District and received the award on behalf of Acting General Manager Atty. Mark Allen M. Paredes.
In her message, Engr. De Fiesta expressed her gratitude for the recognition, noting that the award reflects the shared commitment of ZCWD and its partners to safeguard the water resources that sustain Zamboanga City’s communities. She emphasized that ensuring clean and safe water must go hand in hand with protecting and conserving the environment.
“This recognition reaffirms the value of collaboration — among government agencies, local stakeholders, and communities — in advancing sustainable water management and environmental protection,” AGM De Fiesta shared.
She extended ZCWD’s appreciation to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR–EMB) Region IX, with special acknowledgement to Regional Director Atty. Abas Lao, whose steadfast guidance and leadership continue to strengthen WQMA initiatives in the region.
AGM De Fiesta added that the award serves as further motivation for ZCWD and its partners to continue working with integrity, passion, and purpose toward a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Zamboanga Peninsula. She also congratulated the EMB IX Team for the successful hosting and organization of the event, expressing confidence that this will be the first of many noteworthy milestones in the years ahead.
