On April 30, 2026, the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) conducted a comprehensive site inspection and technical survey of the existing transmission line located within the Zamboanga International Airport premises, specifically the section adjacent to the runway Sta. Maria side.
The transmission integrity check is a proactive, systematic method for evaluating the structural soundness of pipelines and preventing failures. This scheduled condition assessment, which establishes and ensures mainline integrity, is critical for maximizing water supply during the current drought and the PAGASA-forecasted El Niño, which has a 79% probability of developing by June-July-August 2026 and is likely to persist until early 2027.
The activity was conducted with the approval and close coordination of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) – Zamboanga International Airport and the 530th Air Base Group – Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB).
The ZCWD team under the Operations Group was led by Engr. Ariann D. Godinez, Principal Engineer of the Water Distribution Division.
