As part of its commitment to community education and environmental awareness, the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) successfully accommodated four (4) Education students from Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University on May 14, 2026, for a documentation interview focused on water treatment, production, and distribution processes. The activity provided the students with valuable learning opportunities and practical understanding of how safe and potable water is produced for public consumption.
Prior to the formal interview, the OIC Manager of the Electro-Mechanical Division, Mr. Rowvette James Ruiz, conducted a safety briefing for the students during the visit. The interview and discussion session was facilitated by Mr. Allan Mark Ong, OICโQuality Control Chief, who shared the history of ZCWD and discussed the development of the water treatment plant through the years. In addition, the Division Manager of the Water Quality Division, Mr. Eric Salaritan, explained the development of the water treatment facilities and the water quality processes involved in ensuring a clean and sustainable water supply for the community. These processes ensure that water undergoes proper treatment and quality monitoring prior to distribution to consumers.
The students were also introduced to the importance of water treatment operations in protecting public health and preserving environmental quality. ZCWD emphasized the significance of environmental protection, responsible water management, and sustainable utilization of water resources. The activity became a meaningful educational experience that enabled the students to connect classroom concepts with real-world applications. Through the support and active participation of ZCWD personnel, the student interview project was successfully accomplished, promoting greater awareness of water treatment operations and environmental responsibility among future educators.
