Upon the initiative and direction of Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan T. Olaso, the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD conducted an ocular inspection of the ongoing Mainline Rehabilitation Program Phase II on June 23, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to ensure the timely implementation of the infrastructure project aimed at improving water service reliability for customers in the city.
Leading the inspection were ZCWD Board of Directors Vice Chairperson John Federick P. Ruiz and Board Member Ernesto F. Ubando, Jr. They were joined by Acting General Manager Louella A. Aguilera, Assistant General Manager for Technical Services Group Engr. Marli P. Acosta-De Fiesta, and Assistant General Manager for Operations Group Michael Angelo M. Carbon.
The Mainline Rehabilitation Program Phase II is a major infrastructure undertaking funded by the City Government of Zamboanga. The project involves the replacement of aging transmission and distribution pipelines to reduce water losses, improve system efficiency, and enhance the reliability of water service, particularly for customers in Barangays Zone I, Zone II, Zone III, Zone IV, and Santa Catalina.
During the inspection, ZCWD officials underscored the importance of closely monitoring the project’s implementation and expressed the need to expedite the progress of construction activities to ensure that the benefits of the rehabilitation program are delivered to customers at the soonest possible time.
The project, which commenced following the groundbreaking ceremony held in July 2024, forms part of ZCWD’s continuing efforts to modernize its water distribution system and provide more efficient and dependable water services to the public.
Under the leadership of Acting General Manager Louella A. Aguilera and with the support of the ZCWD Board of Directors, the ZCWD remains committed to pursuing infrastructure development initiatives that address system losses and strengthen the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable water services for the people of Zamboanga City.
