Bert Mendoza retires as ZCWD Finance top honcho

Roberto R. Mendoza, has formally relinquished the reigns of the finance portfolio of Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) last month.

Mendoza, erstwhile Assistant General Manager for Finance steps down after nearly 32 years of loyal service to the city’s water utility firm.

He joined ZCWD in 1985 and was hired as an accountant and over the years he has progressed until he was finally appointed as Assistant General Manager for Finance in October of 2011.

A certified public accountant, Bert Mendoza becomes the second top official of the district to have retired from active service following in the heels of Ambali A. Taola, Assistant General Manager for the Administration Group who wound up his tour of duty last February 2017.

Asked to describe Bert Mendoza as head of the finance department, Department Manager Luis A. Wee said with conviction, ‘he is a very calm under pressure.’

Division Manager Sharmaine Gil Tan, says of her former boss that ’he is very diplomatic and a true gentleman’.

Mendoza, custodian of the district’s finances was widely regarded as strictly thorough in his job, serious in demeanor, mostly silent but very approachable in person.

A man of few words Mendoza leaves his imprint as a most capable guardian of funds helping keep the city water district in the black for the past few years.

Mendoza, father to two boys was a part time professor at the Ateneo de Zamboanga where he finished his degree in commerce in 1984.

He also finished his masteral course in Business Administration in the same institution in 2012.
