Apolinario is new ZCWD Union Prexy

A peaceful, worker friendly environment and harmonious labor-management relations are just some of the things the new officialdom of the Zamboanga City Water District Employees Labour Union (ZCWDELU) hope to achieve in the years ahead.

This was stressed by incoming ZCWD LU President Geoffrey Apolinario during last February 1, 2018, formal installation and oath taking rites of the new officers of the water district union held at the board room office with top officials of the district in attendance.

Apolinario will serve a five-year term as president of ZCWDELU.

Present during the turn over and oath taking rites were General Manager Leonardo Rey Vasquez, OIC AGM for Administration Reynaldo Cabilin, and Customer Services Department head Miriam Bagtasos.

Apolinario takes over from outgoing Union President Noel Fabian who served the organization the past two years.

The incoming president, in his short address further said work related issues are hopefully resolved, sentiments of those in the rank and file be heard and reconciliation stressed on contentious matters to ensure a peaceful workplace is achieved at all times.

Apolinario, who is a water resources facilities operator, is joined by Roda Jane Garcia as Vice President, former President Fabian as Secretary, Antonio Dagoy as Treasurer, Luriza Ongcoy as Auditor, and members of the board Murpin Palulla, Benjamin Haradji, Raul Brillantes, Benjamin Magan, and Loreto Carreon.

As he departs from his post, Fabian disclosed hopes are high current plans and programs of the union be continued to better the lot of its members.

He added he leaves the post in the very capable hands of the new leadership who believes are capable of looking after the best interests of the union members.

The Zamboanga City Water District Employees Labor Union was incorporated in 1992 and at present counts on 134 regular rank and file employees as members. (Ed Baños-CREAS ZCWD)
