In our Public Information Campaigns, the public are forewarned that fire hydrants are the property of the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) and directly tapping water from them is a direct violation of Section 8 (A) of Republic Act No. 8041, otherwise known as the Water Crisis Act of 1995. Any damage caused to fire hydrants likewise are violative of the law and the culprits will be made to pay the cost of the damage.

Any unauthorized drawing of water from fire hydrants will be considered as illegal drawing of water. Only authorized persons are allowed to withdraw water from fire hydrants during times of emergency such as personnel of Bureau of Fire.

Penalty:

– Imprisonment from six (6) months to two (2) years

– Fine not exceeding double the amount of the value of water stolen or the value of the damaged facilities
