MARCH 19, 2024 – To ensure the protection of the Pasonanca Natural Park in the event of forest fires due to the ongoing El Niño Phenomenon. The Zamboanga City Water District through its Environment and Water Resources Department under the Technical Services Group (TSG) headed by Assistant General Manager (AGM) Engr. Marli Acosta-De Fiesta, conducted the Fireline Establishment at Sitio Muruk, Barangay Pasonanca.
The activity is part of the institution’s Environmental Protection and 50th-anniversary celebrations.
Department Manager Engr. Valerie Gay P. Yuayan of the Environment and Water Resources Department welcomed the participants during the event.
The participants during this activity were representatives from various organizations such as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) together with District Fire Marshal FSupt. Christopher M. Morales,the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police – Region IX, Philippine Navy, Task Force Zamboanga, and members from the ZCWD staff.
The ZCWD would also like to thank the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Philippine Red Cross in ensuring the medical safety of the participants during this event, and the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) for the support in the collection and proper disposal of the waste/s collected during this activity.
Only by working together can we ensure the safety of our sources of water in Zamboanga City.
