May 28, 2024 – The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) and the Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) have formalized a partnership to promote sustainable development through a memorandum of agreement signed at The Summit Centre, UZ Main Campus. This collaboration aims to implement various water-management programs, combining the expertise and resources of both institutions.
The ceremony was conducted after the conclusion of the ZCWD Barangay Orientation Seminar. The agreement was signed by ZCWD General Manager Reynaldo R. Cabilin, with witnesses including OIC – Assistant General Manager for Operations Group Michael Angelo M. Carbon, Assistant General Manager for Finance Group Atty. Mark Allen M. Paredes. And for UZ, the agreement was signed by University President Abram M. Eustaquio, represented by Vice President for Administration Alfredo S. Eustaquio, who signed also as witness together with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jo-Anne J. Bernardo.
Following the signing ceremony, the ZCWD staff toured UZโs newly retrofitted academic building, the โEdificio Academico.โ This facility, which was unveiled on April 2, 2024, features a Botanical Garden and various utility areas, including a Water Purification Station, Sewage Treatment Plant, Fire Suspension Pump Room, Rainwater Harvesting System, Non-Potable Pump House, and Reservoir Pump House. These installations are designed to meet the UZ communityโs daily water needs sustainably and promote water conservation and recycling.
This dynamic collaboration is expected to evolve and expand, continuously addressing new challenges and opportunities in the realm of sustainable water management and providing the opportunities to share these findings for the people of Zamboanga.
