JUNE 24, 2024 – The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD), headed by Chairperson Ernesto F. Ubando and General Manager Reynaldo R. Cabilin, participated in the Blessing and Inauguration of the Redevelopment of the Water System for Zamboanga City Conflict Areas (Phase I and II). The event took place at the Z3R Booster Station in Sta. Catalina, culminating with a ceremonial valve opening at a fire hydrant located at Sta. Barbara.

The new facility is set to serve approximately 1,333 households across Barangays Sta. Barbara, Sta. Catalina, Kasanyangan, and Rio Hondo. It is designed to store water during off-peak hours and distribute it during peak demand or in low-to-no water scenarios, ensuring a more reliable water supply for these communities.

The redevelopment project received significant support from the local government, led by City Mayor Hon. John M. Dalipe and Majority Floor Leader and Congressman Hon. Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe. Their involvement underscores the city’s commitment to improving essential infrastructure and services for its residents.

The redevelopment project was executed by the National Housing Authority, represented by Engr. Al-Khwarizmi U. Indanan, Regional Manager for Region 9 and BARMM through the Bendimil Construction and Development Corporation, with President Engr. Eduardo Ramon T. Dimaano.

Messages of gratitude were expressed by the barangay officials present, namely from the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas – Zamboanga City and Region 9 Hon. Joseph Daniel “Jordan” R. Evangelista, Acting Punong Barangay of Sta. Barbara Hon. Rene S. Irin, Punong Barangay of Kasanyangan. Hon. Habir M. Omar.

The ZCWD, through Chairperson Ubando and GM Cabilin, assures a sustainable water supply for Zamboanga City Conflict Areas and the city as a whole.
