ZCWD PR 025 s. 2024 – GROUND BREAKING OF THE BUNGUIAO-SANGALI PIPE LAYING PROJECT, AND BLESSING AND TURN OVER OF THE SUMIDERO WATER SYSTEM

August 9, 2024 – The ZCWD conducted a Blessing and Inauguration of the Sumidero Water System and Ground Breaking of Bunguiao-Sangali Pipelaying Project at Barangay Bunguiao together with members of the Zamboanga City Local Government Unit, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Bendimil Construction and Development Corporation.

This Pipe Laying project is part of the “Proposed Feederlines in Various Locations in the City for Water Service Expansion” project with its goal to establish water connections for the residents of Barangay Bunguiao and Sangali. This allows the supply of water for up to 2,488 households and Sangali Fishing Port.

The Sumidero-Bunguiao Water System Project is part of the project titled “Water Supply & Sanitation for Poverty Areas & Tourism Priority Sites-Construction of Various Water Supply Projects in Zamboanga City”. This is a ground tank facility that can supply a total of 4,799 households in Barangay Bunguiao, encompassing 5 Zones for Bunguiao Proper and 14 Sitios, and other Tourism Sites in the area.

A Ground Breaking Ceremony was first held to mark the commencement of the pipe laying project,followed by a ceremonial valve opening of the fire hydrant, and the blessing of the ground tank facility. This was followed by a program wherein a ceremonial turn-over of the Sumidero-Bunguiao Water System Project from its contractor Bendimil Construction & Dev’t. Corp. to the DPWH, to the City Government of Zamboanga, and finally to the ZCWD.

Present during this event representing the National Government was Majority Floor Leader of the House of Representatives and District 2 Congressman Manuel Jose M. Dalipe, together with Zamboanga City Mayor John M. Dalipe along with other members of the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Josephine E. Pareja, namely 1st District Councilors Charlie S. Mariano and Charlie S. Mariano, 2nd District Councilors Al-Jihan R. Edding, and Frederick N. Atilano. Also present was the Liga ng mga Barangay representative Joseph Daniel R. Evangelista, and IP representative Aida O. Paniorotan. And the Barangay Officials of Barangay Bunguiao led by Leo A. Ressureccion together with the barangay council, and Barangay Sangali led by Mukattil A. Adjail.

Representing the ZCWD on that day were its Board of Directors headed by Chairperson Enresto F. Ubando Jr., Board Secretary John Federick F. Ruiz, and Board Member Alan B. Dela Cruz. Also present were the Executive Committee led by General Manager (GM) Reynaldo R. Cabilin, together with the Assistant General Manager (AGM) for Administration Group Engr. Marli P. Acosta De-Fiesta, AGM for Finance Group Louella A. Aguilera, AGM for Operations Group Atty. Mark Allen M. Paredes, and AGM for Technical Services Group Michael Angelo M. Carbon.
The ZCWD, with the support of the Board of Directors and under the leadership of GM Cabilin, fulfills its promise to provide water connections for the residents of Bunguiao and Sangali. The successful completion of the Sumidero Water System and the commencement of the Bunguiao-Sangali Pipelaying Project signify the importance of collaboration the ZCWD has with the Local Government of Zamboanga and the National Government.
