November 7, 2024 — The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD), through its Technical Services Group, conducted a Ceremonial Groundbreaking Ceremony at the Well Exploration and Testing Project at Filinvest Villa San Ignacio (VSI) in Barangay Lunzuran. This project marks an essential milestone in addressing the subdivision’s increasing water supply challenges.

The exploration site, located within the Villa San Ignacio subdivision by Filinvest, is designed to support the 176 households currently residing in the community. The initiative seeks to provide a sustainable alternative to the existing water source, which has reached its capacity after more than a decade of service.

The project entails a thorough evaluation of the feasibility of developing a new potable groundwater source. This includes comprehensive geological research, drilling activities, and subsurface assessments to determine the site’s production potential. Additionally, the project incorporates infrastructure planning, logistical considerations, and adherence to regulatory requirements to ensure its success. A geo-resistivity survey conducted by ZCWD’s Technical Services Group identified a vacant lot within the subdivision as an ideal location for the proposed well. This effort has been made possible through the collaboration of Filinvest Land Inc. and the Villa San Ignacio Homeowners Association.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures from ZCWD, the local government, and community stakeholders. Key ZCWD representatives included Board of Directors Member Alan B. Dela Cruz, General Manager Reynaldo R. Cabilin, and Assistant General Managers Engr. Marli P. Acosta-De Fiesta (Administration Group), Louella A. Aguilera (Finance Group), Atty. Mark Allen M. Paredes (Operations Group), and Michael Angelo M. Carbon (Technical Services Group).

The Zamboanga City Local Government Unit was represented by City Administrator Atty. Wendell F. Sotto, on behalf of City Mayor John M. Dalipe, and City Councilor Al-Jihan R. Edding. Also in attendance was the Barangay Lunzuran Council, led by Punong Barangay Efren T. Perez.

Filinvest Land Inc. was represented by Project Development Specialist Dyan Marie O. Concepcion and Marketing Support Associate Jamil Macalimbol, who attended on behalf of SAVP Geographic Project Head Sheila F. Padua.

This groundbreaking event underscores ZCWD’s dedication to ensuring a reliable, sustainable, and safe water source for Villa San Ignacio. By addressing the current and future water needs of the community, the project aims to significantly enhance the quality of life for its residents.
