ZCWD STRENGTHENS ADVOCACY THROUGH WASH CARAVAN ACROSS ZAMBOANGA SCHOOLS
The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) continues to champion water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) awareness through its dynamic information caravan, reaching students from various educational institutions. Spearheaded by the Community Relations and External Affairs Section (CREAS), the campaign aims to instill sustainable water practices and hygiene habits among the youth.
Recently, the WaSH caravan made stops at three schools: Good Shepherd Training and Assessment Center Inc., Southern City Colleges, and Western Mindanao State University. This builds on the momentum from its inaugural session held on October 15 at Universidad de Zamboanga.
Key topics during the sessions included the critical role of watersheds, particularly the Pasonanca Natural Park, presented by Forestry Assistant Jonas Rafael S. Galeos. Participants also learned about water treatment processes, practical water-saving tips from CREAS Officer-in-Charge Raul Ruben R. Rivera, Jr., and proper handwashing techniques delivered by Public Relations Officer Darwisa B. Salip Akarab-Ishmael.
By engaging directly with students, ZCWD emphasizes the importance of protecting natural resources, ensuring water quality, and promoting hygiene practices. The initiative not only equips participants with essential knowledge but also cultivates a generation of advocates for sustainable water use and environmental stewardship.
With the conclusion of this yearโs WaSH caravan, ZCWD celebrates its successful outreach to Zamboanga’s academic institutions. The program leaves a lasting impact, equipping students with vital knowledge about water conservation, hygiene, and environmental stewardship. Looking ahead, ZCWD remains steadfast in its mission to inspire proactive community involvement and continue its advocacy for sustainable water and hygiene practices in the years to come.
