Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) through Community Relations and External Affairs Section (CREAS) in coordination with USAID Be Secure participated yesterday March 29, 2016 in the national observance of World Water Day organized by Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) with its theme: Water and jobs. The said clean up took place at Murok, Pasonanca Zamboanga City.
World water day is an annual national celebration during the 22nd day of March. It is an instrument of learning more about water related issues. This year’s theme: Water and jobs means, better water supply creates better jobs and it takes a lot effort (jobs) to provide potable drinking water to end users.
ZCWD Personnel worked together for an environmental clean up. The clean up was preparatory for the onslaught of rainy season and emphasizes that through maintaining cleanliness in the surrounding is same as maintaining quality water which will result with quality jobs.
ZCWD Watershed and Environmental Management Division head Archiles A. Braulio said “Clean up will help minimize water contamination from waste matter accumulated during the summer season.”
More than thirty (30) participants, mainly watershed personnel of the district took part in the clean up bringing along their own tools such as bolos, spades, dust bins, brooms and other cleaning implements.
ZCWD is committed to keep the watershed clean and sanitary in an effort to provide safe potable water to its consumers in fifty five (55) barangays currently served.
